Celtic Prophets No.3
This face was found deep within a piece of ancient Irish bog oak — not carved onto the surface, but revealed from within. The wood itself holds and frames it, ancient arms of bog oak reaching up around the face like hands cradling something precious.
I work prophetically with the wood — praying before I start and waiting to see what's already there. I don't decide what's in the wood. I look until I see it — and then I open the door.
This face was waiting inside the wood long before I found it.

Most sculptures are made for indoor use and have a wax finish. This can be freshened with a smooth clean cloth and a touch up of wax applied when necessary.
All the wood used in the sculptures in this shop has been sourced in Ireland, Tipperary if possible as that is where the shop is located. The wood is either taken from bogs and reclaimed land where it has been buried for thousands of years or more recent wood is from trees which have fallen or died. This ensures that the sculpture you order is as fully sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible.
