Ancient Bog Oak Sculpture – Natural Form with Knot | 15 Inches Tall
This unique sculpture is hand-finished from ancient Irish bog oak, standing 15 inches tall. Carefully cleaned and waxed, this piece retains much of its original, raw character, preserving the story that nature has written into its surface over thousands of years.
One of its most striking features is the natural knot along its side — a beautiful reminder of the wood’s living history. The surface holds deep grooves and subtle curves shaped by time, water, and earth. I've left these natural features intact, enhancing them with a gentle wax finish that brings out rich, dark tones and highlights the intricate textures of the grain.
The bottom of the piece reveals a stunning end grain, offering a glimpse into the ancient life of the tree — adding to its grounding presence as a sculptural piece.
Perfect as a centerpiece, shelf feature, or as part of a nature-inspired collection, this sculpture will add a sense of history, calm, and earthy beauty to any space.

Most sculptures are made for indoor use and have a wax finish. This can be freshened with a smooth clean cloth and a touch up of wax applied when necessary.
All the wood used in the sculptures in this shop has been sourced in Ireland, Tipperary if possible as that is where the shop is located. The wood is either taken from bogs and reclaimed land where it has been buried for thousands of years or more recent wood is from trees which have fallen or died. This ensures that the sculpture you order is as fully sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible.
